The opportunity*

As we continue to grow and work on challenging and unique projects, we’re adding a* QA Automation Engineer* to our Engineering team. This is a unique opportunity for someone to help build and execute our testing practice from the ground-up. We’re looking for someone who is obsessed (in a healthy way!) about software quality practice, lives and breathes the values of QA Engineering, and wants to put their skills to work on a unique and interesting product!

As a QA Automation Engineer, you will: *

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies for new and existing software.
  • Execute test plans with a keen eye to identify, troubleshoot and resolve defects and issues in our product
  • Work directly with SW development teams to investigate and resolve issues.
  • Create, manage and execute manual and automated testing to ensure the software meets the requirements and expectations of our customers
  • Maintain a very high bar for quality with the ability and confidence to hold releases that don’t meet the standard.
  • Maintain a “big picture’ customer perspective to strongly represent the customer’s goals and their experience using our product.
  • Meet sprint goals, ensuring quality releases are delivered
  • Support product releases through initial testing through the various stages of a release cycle.
  • Write clear and concise documentation including test strategies, plans, test cases, reproduction steps, results and reports.
  • Stay current with new tools and methodologies and stay current with best practices in quality

What are we looking for?*

  • Technical expertise.
  • 1+ years of QA experience, with a strong understanding of QA best practices.
  • Familiarity with API testing using a tool like Postman.
  • Experience working with modern web applications, and are familiar with technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Node.js, Jenkins, Jira, GitHub and architecture styles such as Microservices or Service-Oriented Architecture.
  • You have a passion for learning about software test strategies, using both automation and manual tests,
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for finding root cause solutions to complex problems.
  • A high bar for quality
  • You understand the importance of accessible web design and polished, delightful user experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Education.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field or comparable experience.
  • Communication skills.
  • You love working in a collaborative team-based environment, and have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to grow and adapt.
  • You want to make a difference and do impactful work, positively influencing the work of your peers and ensuring that only well-tested features are released to our users.
  • You’re always looking for ways to do better. When faced with setbacks, you learn from the root causes and strive to continuously improve your work.

Bonus points if you have: *

  • Hands-on experience building or working with automation testing infrastructure and test harnesses.
  • You have experience building and running an end-to-end automation testing framework (Selenium, Cypress or Nightwatch.js, etc.) in a CI/CD pipeline.
  • You have experience with non-functional testing such as Performance, Accessibility and Security Testing.
  • Familiarity with testing NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB).
